In the third chapter of Luke’s gospel, he writes about how John the Baptist went on the road to tell people about Jesus and to get their hearts prepared to hear the message He was going to deliver. In Luke 3:4-6, Luke references an ancient prophecy made by Isaiah when he writes:
“A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him. Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth. And all people will see God’s salvation.’”
Real Life Church exists to help people find and follow Jesus. We do this through a number of ministries and initiatives that are funded by the free-will offerings and generosity of the thousands of people who call this church their home.
But there are some additional projects we regularly identify that have the potential to raise up the next generation of Christ-followers and ministry leaders, reach people in our community with the gospel message, extend a helping hand to those in need and rescue innocent people from oppression. These are projects that go above and beyond RLC’s regular operations and ministries.
This is why we have launched the Path Makers ministry at Real Life Church. Path Makers are people in our church who have the spiritual gift of giving and have answered God’s call to generosity by stepping into the gap to fund these important special projects. We want to prepare the way for the Lord into people’s lives by helping to clear a path.
We have an ambitious goal to plant or launch 30 churches around California by the year 2030. We have already made progress toward that goal with the launch of our RLC Lancaster campus, and recent church plants in Oakland and San Diego. Now, there are two churches we are hoping to launch in partnership with Mission Church (ironically, one of our first church plants, back in 2011) in the months ahead: Mission Oxnard and Mission Ojai. The funds we raise from this year-end appeal will go toward that effort.
We have secured a $25,000 “matching gift” commitment from a generous donor to kick-off this appeal, and we are hoping to raise the additional $25,000 to seed-fund this initiative. Would you consider making a year-end contribution toward the first phase of this church-planting campaign?
Donations to these projects will not be treated as designated gifts exclusively for the project to which the donation was made. If we receive donations in excess of the published financial need, we will redirect those additional funds to other Path Makers projects, subject to the discretion and oversight of the Real Life Charities Board of Directors.
